Suitable for the most PDQ credit card machines / payment terminals the 57mm x 40mm provide better value as long as you can fit the extra few millimetres of roll (in diameter) into your card machine. These 57mm x 35mm are slightly more expensive due to the economy of scale rule – the 57 x 40‘s we have pallet quantities delivered monthly whereas the 57mm x 35mm are specially run for us. THE GREAT BRITISH TILL ROLL SCAM
So as with everything online these days, what you see is not always what you get.
There are lots of very cheap till rolls and credit card rolls being advertised online. Surprise, surprise these till rolls are cheap for a reason. The paper on these cheap till rolls is much thicker than normal till rolls often up to 90 microns. What this means in practice is that the till rolls will have about 40% less material on the rolls than with the rolls we are selling. So if the rolls were slightly cheaper you are still paying way more per meter.
Often on these cheap till rolls the internal core is bigger adding to the lower meterage. Meaning you the retailer are being ripped off again!
What can be an even greater expense is damage to your expensive EPoS receipt printer, cash register or credit card terminal as this thicker material is often of a lower grade with greater dust and residual thermal coating coming away from the rolls causing damage to your hardware.
If all this wasn’t all bad enough we have found in our testing of these cheap till rolls the image life of the material can often be measured in weeks or even DAYS! This should be in YEARS!
If the prices look too good to be true than its more than likely cheaper, thicker material often imported from the Far East and with higher concentration of chemicals.
