Safescan Warranty

Safescan products ordered from ShopStuff are supplied with 12 months return to manufacturer warranty.

The warranty works as follows –

1. If you believe that your Safescan manufactured product has developed a fault within the first 12 months of ownership please contact Safescan Support team with as detail as possible including the model number, serial number, invoice or order number and nature of the problem. They will attempt to resolve your issue at this point.

2. If Safescan are unable to resolve your issue remotely you will be advised to contact us so we can create a return on your behalf. In order to do this we will need your invoice number, model number, serial number and nature of the fault.

3. You will then send the machine to Safescan UK repair centre (for this reason we strongly recommend retaining all the original packaging.

4. Once the device is received, a Safescan engineer will check it with 4 possible outcomes:
i. Repairable and within warranty conditions * – device will be repaired (or possibly replaced at Safescan’s discretion) in line with our Ts & Cs and returned free-of-charge.
ii. Repairable, but outside warranty conditions * – device will be repaired and then a charge made for the repair and return of the device.
iii. Unrepairable but within warranty conditions * – device will be either replaced in line with our Ts & Cs and returned free-of-charge.
iv. Unrepairable but outside warranty conditions * – reseller or customer will be advised that device is unrepairable and requested to decide if they would like the device returned in the condition we received it with a charge for the return of the device or we can dispose of the device for the customer free-of-charge.

To keep it simple and clear, a repair is within warranty conditions if it is less than 1 year old and the fault is as a result of a manufacturing defect. If, however, the fault is not directly as a result of a manufacturing defect then it will be deemed as an out of warranty condition and, if repairable, will be chargeable. To be extra clear, a common issue with friction banknote counters when we get them back for repair is that there is no fault with the device, they just have not been cleaned regularly enough for the volume of cash handled, or a foreign object has got lodged inside the device, most commonly, elastic bands, paper clips and staples – all of these would not be covered by the warranty and would therefore be a chargeable repair. A common issue with returned money scales is either that they have been dropped, or had something heavy dropped on them – irretrievably damaging the load cell, or we’ve even had them returned with damaged PSU, which obviously isn’t covered under any warranty.

This might seem like a rigmarole, but generally as long as the devices are looked after we don’t have any problems with Safescan products. The warranty restrictions are in place to protect Safescan and ourselves and enable us to offer the products at the lowest possible prices.
